Major technological innovations

As soon as the Lumieres invented the Cinematograph, there started an era of technological inventions immediately. The main improvements concerned the technical change of the camera that were to cause longer films and different 'magical' tricks that would collect millions to the box office and encourage screen film advancement.
One of the first innovations that was done was the prolongation of the screen film duration. Two-three minute films appeared to be 15-30 minutes and that was only beginning. Another major change that involved up-coming prosperity was the change to shooting in "dark" studios. The existing glass-roofed studios didn't suit any more, but "darkened" studios were much better as the use of professional light and cameras made professional films that didn't depend on the sunlight.
Another noteworthy technical innovation was irising and soft-focus. It was the enlargement of a film shot beyond its normal size within a vignette mask. The whole picture became much clearer and visually-attractive.
Still, there are several other screen film technological advancements were "the subjective effects" of the camera and flash-back. One of those famous "subjective" effects is POV or Point of View shot. It was intended to convey the personal feelings of participating personages and "enliven" screen film tapes. As a matter of fact, it enjoyed tremendous success soon afterwards.
