Screen Films

Screen films are a rather new phenomenon in the Pantheon of Fine Arts. They prove to be the youngest art "invention" along with photography and television. Its two other wide-known denominations are "motion pictures" or "cinema". Judging by the former, the essence of screen films lies within "eternalizing" or "recording" living or moving picture (image) on any kind of material (preferably light-sensitive tape). It needs to be said that screen films, being one of the so-called Visual Arts, has been developing in conjunction with Painting and Photography (one of the latest inventions as well) since the year 1600 when the camera obscura was perfected by della Porta. People managed to invert light through a small lense and project it on the surface. So, the craft of creating a moving image has existed since the 17th century, but it was impossible to record it up to 1895 when brothers Lumiere invented a sensational method of recording these moving pictures.

Starting with 1895, the screen films have been developing dramatically and turned into a fast-growing commercial entity that would bring milliards of dollars in the nearest future. However, these are all the consequences of the magnificent future that screen films are doomed to face...

The revolutionary rise of screen films started in the 1860s with demonstration of two-dimensional images by means of three different devices, including zoetrope, mutoscope and praxinoscope. These three optical devices were the foundation of subsequent Kinetoscope that would prove to be the first real film-making gadget.

Improving these three facilities, scientists manage to display sequence of still pictures at adequate speed for them to be "eternalized" on the electromagnetic film for watchers to rejoice at. It was the magic of optical lenses that managed to overturn modern Visual Arts that is an enjoyment for millions of us up to this day.

Apart from tremendous commercial and scientific meaning, the screen films have an immense cultural meaning. In general, screen films are a huge cultural abundance that is not property of one state or one nation but of the whole world. In the same way as it does any art genre and style, the screen films is regarded as the source of popular entertainment and medium of educating citizens throughout the whole world.

Cinema (its another title) serves to be one of the easiest and most understandable ways of communication due to its motion symbols that are to be realized and interpreted in every human's own way. Undoubtedly, the screen films have enormous psychological influence that is not always positive unfortunately.

Still, the screen films are progressing more and more leaving theater and even television behind itself. It develops in spite of all problems and obstacles proving to be one of the most powerful financial sources of the Internet.
